Kari Tornow’s Bio

Kari did not start belly dancing until she was nearly 40 years old when she signed up for an Egyptian Cabaret style class. She discovered the joy of being with the other women and felt a connection with the spirituality of the dance.

When at a festival dancing around the fire, she saw improvisational tribal style (ITS) for the first time. Kari was entranced watching dancers that had never dance with each other before joining together in complete union. She studied ITS for a decade and then decided to dive deeper into the roots of this dance style which led her to American Tribal Style® belly dance and to Jennifer of Tribe Nawaar.

Kari became completely enthralled and has been studying with Tribe Nawaar since 2015. Dancing with other dancers in this improvisational style gives her great joy and confidence. What heals Kari and gives her strength is her love of life and the great joy that dancing brings to her and everyone in her world.

Meet all of Tribe Nawaar’s student and professional troupe members!
