More About The 2026 NoCo Raqs Fest
Come celebrate music and dance on August 22, 2026 at The Drake Center in Fort Collins Colorado. Hosted by the collaborative Northern Colorado group, The Shifty Tellys.
At the 2026 NoCo Raqs Fest you can enjoy a day of dance and music with workshops and shopping. There is an afternoon community showcase featuring several local dance favorites.
The event ends with a phenomenal gala show featuring local legends Rock Hafla and our headliner, Raquy and the Caveman. This will be the final stop on their new album tour.

Saturday Schedule
11am: Rhythm for Dancers with Raquy Danziger
All great dancers have a strong sense of rhythm. This workshop is for dancers to get a better understanding of the Middle Eastern rhythms. No drum is required. The workshop will include: – How to count and recognize the main Middle Eastern rhythms – Rhythm exercises -Accompany standard songs with zils or clapping – How to follow a drum solo
12pm: Veil Transitions with Hannah Mahoney
Take your veil dancing to the next level and explore new ways to enter, exit, discard, and retrieve your veil. Bring your favorite veil and your imagination! I will have a few veils available to borrow.
1pm: Tuvan Throat Singing with Liron Peled
Liron Peled’s throat singing workshops are all-levels (unless otherwise posted) for people with any or no singing experience. The main point is to relax, breath deeply and produce the sound of your voice effortlessly and from that point, become aware of your vocal muscles so you can learn overtone singing (khoomei / sygyt), undertone singing (kargyraa / dij-like vocal sound) or simply zone out to the sound of your own voice, with a nice group of people who are doing the same thing.
2pm: Fan Veil Combinations with Emily Alligood
Learn some combinations to add flair to your fan veil flow routine. All dance styles and experience styles are welcome to this class. We have extra fan veils to borrow if you don’t have a pair of your own.
3pm: Intermediate Darbuka with Raquy Danziger
This class is for darbuka players who already have some knowledge of darbuka. We will learn the following: -Finger Techniques -Different Rolls -Odd Rhythms -Solo Phrases You are welcome to bring any drum but the Alexandria style darbuka with the rounded rim is recommended.
4:30pm Community Showcase
6pm Gala Show
Rock Hafla, Raquy and the Caveman. Nawaar Dance Company will be in the Gala Show at 6pm dancing to one of the songs off Raquy’s latest album.
