Come and find out for yourself with an instructor with over 25 years training in ATS®!

In this workshop you will learn a few favorite tribal style steps, foot and arm placement, posture, simple zil patterns and the mechanics of each movement. Once we have a basic understanding of these moves we’ll begin working towards group improvisational dancing with emphasis on gaining leading and following skills thru development of cues, transitions and fundamental formations.

Ladies Night Out
2-3 hours
, rates vary

Looking for a unique and classy evening or afternoon event to do with your gal pals? This is the perfect solution! I can custom tailor a workshop to your needs and teach you and your family or friends a few of our more popular dance steps and the basic set up of group improv dancing in a lighthearted manner. A great way to provide a memorable afternoon or evening to birthdays, bachelorette parties (sorry we don’t do bachelor parties or the like), baby showers and other special occasions. We’ll close the workshop with an optional ‘improv choreography’ dance where participants can create their own dance or follow me thru a dance using all the new steps they’ve just learned

One of our more memorable Ladies Night Out workshops was when we geared this workshop to be a sophisticated bachelorette night, set up light vending for participants to shop and peruse fun clothing and jewelry. The hostess of the party provided each of the bridal party members with a small token gift before the party (bindis or hip scarves make great gifts!). Everyone had a good time learning something out of the ordinary and a few brave participants joined our troupe during the large rehearsal dinner at the Dushanbe Tea House where we were hired to perform the following night.

Dress for workshop:
Any fitted top and pants or skirt that provides full range of movement and makes you feel like belly dancing.

Prerequisite:
No dance experience necessary.. just a playful attitude.

Zil Expressionzilexpression

Drumming For Dancers
2 hours, rates vary

Dancers who drum are just plain cool! But there is so much more to be gained than just the cool factor. By cultivating a direct connection with the middle eastern rhythms used in belly dance you will strengthen your skills as a dancer, gain depth of expression and be better able to anticipate the changing patterns of the music. We like to use basic drum accompaniment in chorus from time to time to mix things up and find it a major bonus to be able to jump in and play with random drum circles!

Prerequisite:
You will need your own drum or you can use your zils if you just want to work on rhythms. We often will have a limited supply of doumbeks (the quintessential Middle Eastern drum) available for purchase in the studio. Email us ahead of time to ensure we have one that will fit your needs.
